Self-Assessment.

Media Assessment

We had two weeks to create an opening sequence for a children's film, we had one week to create our footage and one week to edit. We could use either IStopMotion, green screen or actual footage. We choose to create our film using actual footage and to edit our film on Final Cut Express. The story was based on a group of teenage girls and was set in a location of a college. The plot of the story was about a teenage girl starting at a new college and her whole process of making a  relationship with a group of friends and the problems that occur. The target audience we aimed our sequence at was teenagers this is because we wanted the audience to relate to the characters.

We feel we met our genre by using a variety of mise-en-scene that linked to the target audience including location, clothing, props, characters body language and real life situations. We also included a variety of different camera angles and shots including a panning shot, tracking shot, high angle shot and more.We had an establishing shot to show where our films is set, we introduced characters, credits and the music we included was created by a member of our group in Garage Band which was edited into our sequence by Final Cut Express. We edited our footage by cutting, trimming and extending on the final cut express software. We incorporated a voice over in our product to create more of a narrative in the story, we did this so that the story of the film would be clear to the target audience.

If we were to reproduce the film we could have used our time more effectively and spent more time on planning and making sure our plans can be carried out in the amount of time we were given.
While creating our film, we had a lot of ideas however we encountered problems with the cameras and therefore has to change our ideas. We feel that with a little more planning and time we could have improved the outcome of our film.
